Estonia plans to attract the British media in the country
Publishedо 27 March, 2018
Representatives of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced their plans to attract British media companies to the country after the British exit from the EU.

In accordance with the European legislation, the suppliers of media content, registered in one of the EU countries, obtain authorization to broadcast on the whole territory of the Union. After Brexit the media sources, that work under the British Ofcom licence, will not be able to supply their products to the common market. Therefore, now more than a thousand of television channels of the United Kingdom are looking for new broadcasting platforms.

According to representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Culture, Estonia can offer an efficient digital business environment, a soft tax policy and low costs in starting and developing a business to media corporations from the UK.

The appearance of such major highly respected media players in the country should strengthen the economy in the field of media services and enhance competition in the market, that will give impetus to the development of the local companies.
