India actively uses the Estonian e-resident system

Representatives of the diplomatic structures of Estonia have noted the increasing interest from citizens of other states to the  digital citizenship applications. Recently, the representatives of India have been particularly active in this direction.

The e-Residency program was launched in 2014, and it is aimed at obtaining access to banking and financial services, the tax system for foreign entrepreneurs. The application for residence can be submitted online, according to the results of the program participant is issued a special card with a unique number, which then can be used to sign documents.

Recently, there has been an increase in applications for "electronic citizenship" from Indian entrepreneurs. These are mostly small companies working in the field of Internet Commerce on the Amazon marketplace, as well as in the fields of cryptocurrencies and IT-technologies. Thanks to the registration of residence, Indian companies have access to the European market and to the PayPal system, which allows to work with payments, make refunds and resolve disputes with European buyers.
