Road transport aggregators can leave the Estonian market

Road transport aggregators can leave the Estonian market

One of the largest Estonian companies on joint trips Taxify announced a possible exit from the country's market due to the planned changes in the legal framework, which may lead to increased pressure on aggregators.

The Ministry of economy and communications of Estonia proposes to make the platforms for car sharing responsible for the quality of services provided to consumers. These changes will affect not only Taxify, the capitalization of which exceeded a billion dollars last year, but also such a giant as Uber. Aggregators will have to be responsible for the experience and level of driving, the condition of the car, as well as the interaction of the system participants with tax and insurance companies.

Representatives of the community of readering believe that this change will lead to the disappearance of taxi drivers, part-time workers, and drivers-amateurs, moonlighting from case to case. Companies-aggregators are not able to check the accuracy of all the information provided by the employees, as well as to monitor how honestly the driver pays taxes.
