The economy of Estonia is hurting because of the reduction in transit volumes
Publishedо 20 September, 2016

According to the statistics, the volumes of transit shipment across Estonia reduced by 7 times for 10 years. 6 million tons of cargo are transported in the current year as compared with 40 million tons in 2006. As the state receives about 15 euros from each ton of transit cargo, the economy of Estonia will fail to receive 510 million euros in the current year in comparison with 2006.

According to the estimation of Logistics and transit association specialists, the fall off in volumes of transit transshipment results in reduction of revenue of railway line and ports, and also of labour taxes received from freight terminals. Consolidated loss in income for each ton of non-carried cargo is 10,5 euros, so 357 million euros per year.
