Shipbuilding companies of Turkey and Poland transferred two new Tiiu and Piret ferries to a subsidiary SJSC “Tallinn port” (Tallinna Sadam) for links to the islands. The transfer of the ferries to the subsidiary of Tallinn port finished the conflict between the Tallinna Sadam state company and the private enterprise Saaremaa Laevakompanii SLK, that rendered the ferry services to the biggest islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa for 20 years.

Tiiu ferry will start working in early April and go back and forth between the continent and Hiiumaa island, and Piret - from the end of April on the route Virtsu — Kuivastu (Estonia). Each ferry can carry 12 trucks with containers, 700 passengers, including standing room, and up to 150 cars.
