Early next year the EU will charge a new sugar tax. Industrialists of Estonia expect an increase in prices of dairy products (yogurt and sugary kefir), fresh juices, sugary drinks almost twice.

Sugar tax will be imposed on each litre of production by 30 cents. The Ministry of Finance of Estonia would like to eliminate yogurt from the list of taxable goods. But the EU rules do not provide for this.

The EU has estimated that the new tax on sugary drinks will add 15 million euros to the Treasury.
