The total amount of investments will reach nearly EUR 35 million. The main activity of the government of Russia and Estonia is to develop and support border regions, establish the processes of cooperation between local authorities. It is planned to build new border checkpoints (including in the Narva-Ivangorod region), reconstruct the wastewater treatment system, update the road between the cities of Vyarska and Pechora until 2020.

Within the framework of the agreement, special attention will be paid to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the region, the development of tourism, the protection of border lakes and freshwater resources common to the two countries.
