Last week in the “Southern capital” of Kazakhstan in the framework of the exhibition “Transport and Logistics” - Transit-Kazakhstan 2015 – there was discussed cooperation of the Baltic States and Kazakhstan in transport sector.

Because of Russian sanctions in the Baltic countries percentage in almost all areas of transportation decreased significantly. In this regard, Latvia and Kazakhstan actively discuss the new logistics solutions for the transport of goods from China to Europe. According Baurzhan Mukhamedzhanov, who is the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Latvia, Lithuania has offered more favorable terms of cooperation to the Authorityof Kazakhstan Railways, thereby having displaced the Port of Riga beyond the new transport corridor for the transit of Chinese goods.

The Lithuanian Government is confident that the Klaipeda port in the future may become the missing link in the logistical transport between Kazakhstan and Europe.
