The Estonian Minister of economy, Kadri Simson, visited the port of Muuga near Tallinn and got acquainted with its infrastructure. According to Madam Simpson, Muuga is suitable for construction of multimodal cargo terminal. This terminal will be the starting point of the Trans-Baltic railway line called Rail Baltic.
"Access to the Muuga port both from the sea and the railway is good for it. Thus, the port can be a point at which the Northern transport corridor will connect to the railway eastward. Muuga intermodal terminal, which is under construction, will play a big role here," - said the Minister in her interview to BNS.
At the meeting with the Minister, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Tallinn port, Valdo Kalm, and the Chairman of the Executive Board of Eesti Raudtee company, Erik Laidvee, said that they saw a great potential of the Rail Baltic project for the development of transit sector in Estonia in general and for the port of Muuga in particular.
