Estonia begins exploitation of shale deposits in the USA
Publishedо 9 October, 2018
The international energy concern Eesti Energia, represented by its American branch Enefit American Oil, has received permission to carry out works at the shale field in Utah.
Recently American bureau of land management approved the application, previously sent by an Estonian group, to create a utility corridor. It is a communications system that should link the shale gas field in Utah, acquired by Eesti Energia in 2011, with regional infrastructure. This will reduce the cost of hydrocarbon production and bring the project to a competitive level.
In total it is planned to build 31 km of pipelines for water supply, 14 km of pipes for natural gas, 18 km – for oil products, as well as 48 km of transmission lines. The work permit was obtained after the analysis of the project impact on the environment and assessment of possible risks.
