Iceland will connect to the Estonian X-Road system

Last week, representatives of the ministries of Estonia and Iceland confirmed the intention to connect the Viking country to the Estonian development in the field of secure data exchange X-Road. For now, only Finland is connected to the system except the Estonia such country of the developer.

The development of a unified database with standard interfaces and protocols within the framework of the state program of digitalization of services began in Estonia in 2001. Now both state structures and commercial organizations are connected to X-Road. At the same time, legal entities and ordinary citizens can not only get information about themselves but also find out who was interested in their data in the system. The base has a high level of protection, including NATO protocols.

Connecting to the X-Road of the new country will significantly expand opportunities for joint business and make easier the interaction of government agencies. For example, residents of Estonia and Finland can receive prescriptions through electronic pharmacy systems, and registration of new companies takes no more than 15-20 minutes.
