Eesti Gaas to become the leading tanker in the Baltic
Publishedо 26 March, 2019
Recently the international shipbuilding group Damen announced the launch of a bunkering vessel for the Estonian gas company Eesti Gaas. The main purpose of the ship is mobile refueling of ships with liquefied natural gas.

The first parts of the new vessel were cut from metal at the Chinese factory Yichang, the completion of construction and testing is scheduled for spring 2020. After commissioning, Eesti Gaas will become the leading company in the field of liquefied natural gas (in the form of fuel) in the Gulf of Finland. Now in addition to refueling cargo ships and cruise ferries in port areas, Eesti Gaas will be able to cooperate with shipping companies on a new level – to carry out mobile refueling of ships anywhere in the Baltic sea.

The development of the mobile stations infrastructure stimulates the transition of an increasing number of shipping companies to use ships operating on LNG, which will ultimately lead to a significant reduction of emissions. The new unit Eesti Gaas will be equipped with engines of ice class 1A and reinforced skin to work in difficult weather conditions.
