Online trading in Estonia still has room to grow
Publishedо 30 April, 2019
Representatives of the Department of payment and settlement systems of the Central Bank of Estonia recently announced statistics on payments made for the first months of the new year. The main increase was made by online transfers for purchases in online stores.

Compared to the same period of 2018, the number of Internet purchases increased by 25%. At the same time, a significant amount of goods was ordered in Estonian stores – more than a third of the total. The most popular were cosmetic and sports goods, vitamins, household appliances and electronics. At the same time, the statistics of the European Union in the field of online trade shows that Estonian companies still have room to grow. According to the courier service DPD, the most active EU buyers percentage of Internet orders is more than 13% of the total. In Estonia this figure, despite a marked increase in recent years, does not exceed 8.5%.

The campaign of EAS Fund for Promoting Enterprise development contributed to significant growth of online stores sales in Estonia. Last year the Found held many large-scale events aimed at disseminating information about Estonian startups and small companies offering a new, unique product. This significantly increases the brand awareness of "made in Estonia" both in the world and in the domestic market.
