Passport control in Tallinn will be automatic
Publishedо 27 August, 2019
Recently the Estonian government announced its intention to establish a system capable of carrying out passport control without the participation of a border guard officer at border crossing points. Electronic systems will be rented for the testing period.

The main contender for the supply of such systems is the company from the Netherlands Gemalto - the world leader in the field of secure digital transactions, as well as the largest supplier of solutions for electronic passports. Special gates, called eGates, will read chipped documents and process for 20 seconds. The first city to introduce the novelty will be Tallinn.
