Operail stops delivering Russian goods
Avaldatud 16. 2022.a.
The state-owned Estonian railway carrier Operail will not accept Russian or Belarusian-made products for transportation since the new year. The official statement was recently published by the Ministry of Economy and Communications.
The company was also recommended to review all existing commercial agreements with the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus and to minimize activities in these areas. That will most likely undermine the plans of Operail to work with the supply of Russian nickel for Finland.
While Estonian railway workers are unable to compensate for the refusal to transport goods from neighboring countries, the company notes halving in volumes, and subject to the measures taken, 15-20% of the company's previous capacity may remain in operation.
