Saulius Poskus does not consider economically viable for the Baltic countries the construction of an underwater tunnel between Estonia and Finland. Director of the Lithuanian section of Rail Baltic believes that only Finland will benefit from the construction of this highway, because at the moment it is cut off from the rest of the world.

Financial supportfor construction of the EU will be completed in 2020, afterwards countries participating in the project will invest in the construction of a new highway equity. According to Poskus, construction of the tunnel will be too expensive, and it is unlikely to earn its keep. Estonian Minister of Economy on the basis of preliminary calculations suggests that a tunnel between Tallinn and Helsinki will be repaid in 40 years.
