The January cargo carriage volume of the Estonian railway company EVR Cargo fell by 27% compared with January 2015. EVR Cargo's acting chairman of the board Paul Lukka said that the reduction of volumes can be linked with the departure of one major partner to a rival company last year. According to him, in comparison with January 2015 figures have actually dropped significantly, but the cargo carriage volume of EVR Cargo is stable in recent months.

In January 2016 the main partner of EVR Cargo was Russia, but there was also a decrease in turnover of 39% as compared with the last year. Increase in figures was traced only in respect of cargo from/to Belarus (25%) and Lithuania (100%). Transshipment by railway company EVR Cargo year over year decreased by 40%, and amounted to 51% of all the traffic volume.
