«Fair milk» will allow Estonian farmers to survive the sanctions

Avaldatud 22. marts 2016.a.
The sanction confrontation between the EU and Russia led to the decline of Estonian farms. From the beginning of imposing sanctions the cattle stock of Estonian farms decreased by 9 thousand as a result of a sharp drop in the export of dairy products, and the livestock reduction is forecasted by 10 thousand in 2016.

For the purpose of farmers supporting the trading network Coop Eesti and the company-processor Farmi signed a contract according to which they relinquished their shares in the profit from dairy products sales in favour of producers. A new product came into the Estonian market – «Fair milk» which costs a bit more expensive than the products of other trademarks. The project members offer the Estonians to support the local producers by buying «Fair milk» that will increase the farmers’ profits at the expense of a slight rise in prices.
