Jussi Niemelainen, a journalist of the famous Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, writes in one of his reports that Toomas Hendrik Ilves, who is just about to leave his office of Estonian president, has soured relations between Estonian and Finland.
According to the journalist, disputes occured between two countries because of a difference in diplomatic approaches to the solution of political affairs in the relations with Russia after imposition of sanctions by the European Union. Niemelainen also thinks that resistance of Estonian president to further military cooperation of Finland and the USA played a big role in cooling of relations between Estonia and Finland.
