Estonia began selling solar panels for tile roofs

Estonian startup SolarStone developed an engineering solution to install solar panels directly into the roof, and in different types of tile roofs that are popular in Estonia. Top supplier of tiles in Estonia, the Monier company, partnered with SolarStone, as a result of which solar panels for the tile roof, visually compatible with it, went on sale. Earlier solar panels were installed on top of tiles that worsened the exterior of the roof.
The collaboration between Monier and SolarStone is economically advantageous very much in the long view, because all new houses in Estonia must be buildings with nearly zero consumption since 2021. Acoording to the Monier’s manager, Marco Tammest, this requirement was difficult to meet without their own production of solar panels. So the company decided to cooperate with SolarStone as the Estonian manufacturer of panels.
Together, these companies will provide a reduction in energy consumption in both new houses and existing ones.
