Avaldatud 23. aprill 2018.a.
Last week the first trip on the route "Amber train" was carried out within the framework of a joint project of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, aimed at the development of intermodal transport.
The train goes through the key stations of the three states, they are Sestokai – Riga – Tallinn, thus linking the national railways of the Baltic States into one network. It will allow the new project to significantly improve transportation efficiency.
The first client of the new route was Forwardis company, which is in the assets of one of the largest French railway and multimodal forwarding companies SNCF. More than 40 containers were loaded in Poland and delivered to the Estonian Paldiski terminal as soon as possible.
The first trip of the "Amber train" was also aimed at studying the technological processes, schedules and speed of traffic, understanding the effectiveness of documents and data exchange. In the near future, a trilateral meeting of representatives of the national railway companies is planned to discuss the results of this first start and finally form commercial conditions.
