Estonian electricity and natural gas supply system operator Elering announced the withdrawal of part of the pipeline between Estonia and Finland on land. In the near future, almost 1000 meters of pipes should be pulled out from under the water.

The participant of the Baltic Connector Oy project plans to complete laying and installation of the underwater part of the gas pipeline by the end of July this year. Then the testing stage of the pipe operation at different pressure levels will begin. The start of operation of the Balticconnector on a commercial basis is scheduled for the end of 2019.

The new line will provide Finland with access to a natural gas storage facility in Latvia and enable to establish a liquefied natural gas storage terminal in the Baltic region.
