Container delivery from Latvia to the Muuga harbour on the Rail Baltica highway will cost €100

The construction of Tallin-Riga-Kaunas railway line as a part of the project of Rail Baltica highway will start in 2020. According to the project developers, the new highway will allow to raise cargo carrage volume among the European countries шт the direction North-South-North.
Prequalification of the highway capabilities enables to suggest that they will conduct up to 60% of goods transported today by road transport and about 20% of passanger transportation on this highway. However, only container freight will be transported, and the cost of one container carriage from Latvia to the Estonian Muuga harbour will amount to about €100. Some experts believe that the project needs calculations allowing better estimate its profitability and economic efficiency.
