According to officials of European Parliament, Great Britain tends to improve its already advantageous position in the EU trying to get additional discounts. The leader of liberal and democratic fraction in the EP, Guy Verhofstadt has declared that "The European Parliament will never approve the agreement which in fact rejects free movement of people for ten years and at the same time gives an additional discount in exchange for all benefits of the domestic market".

The official believes that “the only possible model of relations between Great Britain and The EU is an associate membership with smaller obligations and, respectively, smaller rights. If it does not work, then there is a possibility of the regular trade agreement between Great Britain and The EU”.
