Estonia can lose fur farms

On February 13 the Riigikogu Commission on rural living discussed a request of the animal rights organisations to ban fur farms in Estonia. At the same time in front of the Riigikogu building the environmentalists picketed demanding to ban fur farms.

Petition and memorandum, gathered more than 10 000 signatures and resulted in taking part of more than 70 Estonian enterprises in the protest, were submitted to the authorities 2 years ago. The animal rights organisations insist that cruelty of fur farms is not comparable to moral and ethical image of Estonia, they also refer to the ban of fur farms in many European countries.
