Researches, conducted by PwC audit company by order of the logistics and transit association, showed a decrease in cargo transit of Estonia in the period between 2005 and 2015. The experts analysed the market of transit carriage of cargo in all areas - on rails, at ports and airports. Only in respect of marine transit, the decline in turnover for 10 years was 28% at the port of Sillamae and 21% at the port of Tallinn.

The analysis of the transit transport volumes was ordered by the auditors to gain information about Estonia’s competitiveness in comparison with the neighboring countries. According to Andres Valgerist, the Chairman of the Board of the logistics and transit association, the state should pay more attention to the issue of transit transport, as “in this business not the companies, but the countries compete with each other”.
